Teasel (Dipsacus fullonum) is a perennial herb with a fibrous root that has long been used in folk medicine. It is most commonly employed to relieve digestive discomfort, reduce inflammation, and support the immune system as an adjunct in colds and flu. Because its root contains compounds that can irritate the skin and affect blood flow, teas or extracts should be taken in moderation, and it should be avoided during pregnancy and near surgery.
